MIDDLEVILLE, Mich. - Brady Swartz knew he would get his 1,000th career point on Friday.
But the Northview High School senior wasn’t sure how it would happen.
“So the bench told me I was two points away and they wanted me to end it on a dunk,” Swartz said. “So I got out in transition and saw open court ahead of me. I thought ‘I’m about to dunk this!’”
Swartz scored 25 points as Northview beat host Middleville 85-50 on Friday, Feb. 7.
“It feels great,” Swartz said. “I’ll celebrate tonight and then it’s back to work tomorrow.”
The 6-foot-7 Swartz, who has committed to play at Western Michigan University, is averaging 26.4 points per game. He’s gotten games of 50 and 49 points this season.
“I wasn’t really close at the start of the season,” Swartz said of the milestone. “Maybe 550 or 600 away. So It feels good.”
Northview junior Cam Swartz finished with 28 points on Friday. He reached the 1,000 point mark two weeks ago.
“It’s great,” Ryans said of Swartz’ milestone. “It just shows how much we can score the basketball between us two. I don’t know many teams in Michigan that have 1,000 career points on the same team. It’s pretty special.”
Antony Willis added 13 points for the Wildcats (14-4) and Izzy Hatibu had eight. Lucas Ploeg led Middleville (9-9) with 22 points.
