One of top freshmen in West Michigan tears his ACL
ZEELAND, Mich. - Brayden Williams, one of the top freshmen in West Michigan, will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The 6-foot, 160-pound guard was wearing a heavy knee brace - and not in uniform - before his Wyoming High School team played Zeeland West on Friday night.
Williams tore the ACL in his right knee last Friday when Wyoming played at Muskegon.
“I tried to drive and I planted my foot,” he said. “Then I heard a pop in my knee and I just went down. The doctor told me I tore my ACL. I have to find out Tuesday when I have surgery.”
The freshman averaged 10 points per game for the Wolves, who are 5-10 this season.
“That’s not how I wanted to end the season,” Williams said. “I wanted to finish with my family (teammates). I want to be with my friends out there.”
He did get to play with his older brother Warren Williams, who is a junior for Wyoming.
“It’s actually pretty fun playing with my brother out there,” Brayden said. “He helps me if I’m playing down or when I’m doing good, too.”
