WYOMING, Mich. - Jakhary Towns had no idea how many points he had.

The Wyoming Godwin Heights senior just wanted to make sure his team finished with the win.

Turns out Towns needed every one of his career-high 47 points as the Wolverines beat Wyoming Lee 83-80 in overtime on Wednesday night in a Division 2 district semifinal game.

“I was very excited to get the win in overtime,” Towns said. “My teammates made some really key plays down the stretch.”

Godwin (15-7) advances to play Hudsonville Unity Christian on Friday at Godwin Heights in the district title game.

“I didn’t know I had 47,” Towns said. “I just wanted to relax and knock down my free throws.”

He drained five 5-pointers and was 11-of-15 from the free-throw line.

The 47 points are the most that any player in West Michigan has scored this season. His previous high was 40 last season against NorthPointe Christian. Towns has had eight games of 30 or more this season.

Damarie Thompson had 10 of his 12 points in the second half for Godwin.
